Referred to as the independent watchmaker of our time, François-Paul Journe and his eponymous brand F.P.Journe Invenit et Fecit, founded in 1999 has offered the Swiss luxury watch industry much to talk about. It is thanks to this watchmaker and creator’s vision that the choice was made to move their 1st boutique in the US from its Midtown-Madison Avenue location downtown inside a Soho landmark location on beautiful Mercer Street.
Enter the doors at number 53 Mercer Street and you are greeted by the opening to its 2nd floor ordained by a grandiose chandelier designed by Mexican-Brazilian artist Carolina Fontoura Alzaga. Move inwards and be taken away by a beautiful black and white FPJ wall lined with examples of its craft. This 550 sqm2 space, over 2 floors, opened its doors mid-April 2023. Jasmine Bapic was the team leader in the finalizing of its buildout, from the finishing details that went into its professional kitchen on the 2nd floor to the retro-sourced furniture in the 1st floor VIP lounge. No detail was spared, and this project came together thanks to a wonderful team dynamic. Bapic also oversaw that team increasing it by 3 persons including a new and very much needed role and even worked on diverse retail tools needed for its performance management. The result has become a much-visited location by many from around the world.
